‘Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity’ – Seneca
Seneca Vintners is the creation of two wine enthusiasts, Stuart Richardson and third generation winemaker and vigneron Will Shelmerdine, with a goal to create, small batch, hand-crafted wines of the highest quality.
Reflecting the provenance from where the grapes are sourced, Seneca Vintners desire is to make premium wines from the best expressions of our single vineyard sourced fruit.
Inspired by famous Roman Statesman, Philosopher and Stoic, Seneca the Younger, who amongst many wise things wrote that “life is too short to drink bad wine” and “Luck is what happens preparation mets opportunity.”
Our professional backgrounds are a mixture of business and strategic management, venture capital, technology starts-ups, beverage manufacturing, viticulture and now winemaking.
The duo have travelled far and wide, sampling wines from inspiring wineries and estates across the world. Including working vintages in Portugal’s Douro and Alentejo wine regions including: Herdade do Esporão, Quinta dos Murças, Herdade dos Grous and Quinta do Valbom.
